I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH PAP. IT WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I HAD SHORTNESS OF BREATH, CLUBBING, AND I WAS BLUE IN THE LIPS AND FINGERS. I WAS IN DENIAL FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. I ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL FOR THREE AND A HALF WEEKS. THEY DID A LUNG BIOSPY ON ME AND COLLAPSED MY LEFT LUNG. THEY DID A LUNG LAVAGE ON ME AND I WAS OKAY FOR THREE YEARS. NOW I AM STARTING TO FEEL SOME OF THE SIGNS AGAIN. I DO NOT WANT TO GO INTO THE HOSPITAL AGAIN.
I AM AFRAID OF EXERTING MYSELF. THIS IS TERRIBLE. ANYONE WITH LUNG PROBLEMS, GO TO THE DOC. DON'T WAIT!!!!!!
sounds a little bit like sarcoidosis. But then Im just a patient and not a dr. Ask a physician. I know that when I came down with it they thought it was everything under the sun but what it was. I even told them I looked up my symptoms and found it to be sarcoidosis I believed. They didnt test me for that till last. I was hospitalized for 8 days. I was in end stage lung disease when they finally did biopsy and diagnosed me with the sarc. What a mess it was,. Steroids will get it in check. It did for me. Its mild now but still here. at times its very difficult to get a deep breath. I get winded a lot. dry cough with no mucus. low energy level. weight loss. and sometimes even a rash will get on your skin if its sarc. it did mine in the end stages. I thank God they caught it when they did. I wouldnt be writing this post otherwise. Good luck and dont be scared just check on it till you have an answer from your physician that your comfortable with ok. Thats what I did and Im not sorry at all that I kept going in and saying hey folks. I cant breathe. :)
Does it feel as if when you exert yourself that your throat is going to burst open and your heart leap out? Shortness of breath and much pain? I had something similar to this and it only went away after I laid up in rest for about a week and stopped smoking. It was said to have been an advanced case of bronchitis/pneumonia. Hope that helps a bit.
I am not sure about the cause of the cramping. It is possible that some of the symptoms you are describing could be hyperventilation. This would leave a normal lung function and also cause muscle cramping. I would suggest seeing the physician at the time of the discomfort to try and determine the exact cause.
Ozark, thats very unlikely three weeks post-op. Although vocal chord paralyzation/damage is a possible risk of intubation, it would happen moreso with a prolonged intubation. Nonetheles, todays maxilofacial surgeries aren't even performed with oral endotracheal intubations. They are using laryngeal masks to avoid such risks as glotic edema and vocal chord damage.
I still think "thankgod" needs to relax and let things continue to heal. It may be possible that you have a small upper airway infect due to the common cold or yes, possibly allergies. But I wouldnt blame that on the surgery you had.
If you're complaining of chest pain, be sure to report this to your physician.

i never blame it on my surgery,if people would have read corectly i'm saying that i had this before my surgery and i still have it now, and i'm wondering if its not allergies, and i know its not the tube thing they put in my throat because the pain is the same as it was before, i cant even go up the stairs without breading i feel like i'm 80 years old!
yeah i know but i had this pain even before i got operated....
it could be the result of being intubated during the surgery and you throat is irritated from it.........
