im 15 and need to know what to do!

Im 15 and had a nasty cough for about 2 months now. when i cough i have stuff in my throat but any other time i dont have stuff in my thoat. im worried because ive had some lung problems in the last 2 years they took a blood test in january and said that i was posative for low alpha-1 antitrypsin. so they sent me to mayo clinic in rodchester minisota they told me that i dont have it so i dont no what to think. but now ive had this cough and ive lost 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks i went from 120.5 to 114.2 and when i cough i can hardly breath and its really loud and nasty sounding i havent been hungery lately but i still eat my dad has noticed me getting pretty skinny and the cough getting worse... please help and suggest what you think i should do

Please talk to your parents and see a pulmonologist as it sounds like you are having quite a bit of difficulty especially with eating. Why did the doctors want to test for alpha-1? Do you have changes on your xrays that would make them consider it? Also, have they looked into other disorders that may cause chronic coughing, lung changes etc such as severe allergies, immunological diseases, even CF.? I hope you get somewheres with all of this, most importantly, I hope you feel better and get the right treatment.

It sounds like Mayo Clinic hasn't helped you.  With my lung problems, I finally went to National Jewish in Denver.  They are the #1 in the US for pulmonary problems.  I highly recommend them.  They helped me when pulmonologist after pulmonologist didn't.  I live in Phoenix.  Let me know if I can help with any further information.
