I also have the dripping nose and coughing up phlegm after lap band surgery.  It is not an allergy--the nose dripping is gustatory rhinitis.  I'm not sure if the coughing is related.  It started for me less than a year after lap band surgery.  I wish I knew if the coughing up phlegm is related.  Apparently my sinuses make gastric fluid--could it be possible that my lungs also do?  Couldn't that be harmful to my lungs?

I had lap band 2 1/2 years ago and lost 175 lbs.  it does work if you exercise and do exactly like the dr ordered.  I think it is the best decision I ever made.  As for acid reflux I do have that.  I take Nexuim and try to not eat too late.  Sometimes I have the night cough too.  I have not figured that one out.

I too get mucous coughed up after eating. I have had a lap band for 8 years now.(waste of time for me-lost only a bit of weight and struggle to keep it off even eating less)I am interested that others think this could be associated with the lap band. Maybe a study needs to be done.
