pain in chest, ribs, and abdomen

I have been having frequent and constant pain in my abdomen, ribs, and my chest. I also wake up with a cough that I think might be related. When the pains first started, I went to the E.R. and I got a bunch of tests run including a chest x-ray and an EKG. I also had blood tests run to check for a high white blood cell count, as well as my liver function. I do not smoke, and I have started eating much healthier since this pain has started. My stomach also feels nauseous a lot of the time, and the pain spreads all the way up to my left armpit. Sometimes it feels like there is a corridor extending from my lower right abdomen all the way to my left armpit where the pain is the most frequent. I can also sometimes feel this pain in my back and the pain increases when I bend over sometimes. Can someone tell me what this is?

I had to go to the doctor a few weeks ago with the same type of symptoms.  He sent me to the ER right next to his bldg for further testing.  It was determined that I had "costochondritis".  I was given Parafon Forte for the inflammation of the ribcage/cartilege...and Percocette for the pain......after 3 days it disappeared.  Do you also suffer from Fibromyalgia?  I do..and that can cause ALL of the symptoms you describes.....its nasty and can't be cured. :(

I went to another doctor after I posted this, and he came to the conclusion that I might be suffering from costochondritis. However, he didn't take an x-ray because he thought that the physical examination seemed very normal. Should I go to another doctor to get an x-ray done?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
These are serious symptoms that demand further medical evaluation without delay.  It is good news that the EKG and Chest X-ray and blood count were all normal but the persistence of your symptoms demands that you be reevaluated by a physician physical examination and further testing be done to include a repeat chest X-ray and studies of your gastrointestinal tract.  There are too many possible causes for me to speculate on what is going on in your chest and abdomen but, based on your description of events, I can state that this is an urgent matter.  You should seek medical advice today, without delay.

Good luck
