prednisone/side effects

I was put on prednisone for stage 4 emphysema .I am also diabetic @ bood  sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone,have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?

As the dr said, steroids do tend to raise blood sugar levels.  I would strongly advise that you be more careful with your diet when you are on steroids in the future.

Steroids like prednisone do indeed increase blood sugar.  They are indicated for exacerbations of COPD but not for daily therapy on a chronic basis
