what could be  sinus infection, chest congestion and upper body aches, such as in neck, upper arms, shoulders and shoulder blades, for 4 solid months? It started with chest congestion and coughing, then expanded into sinus', ears, throat, and then added constant neck and shoulder pain. I went to the family dr. 3 times with in 4 weeks. He gave me antibiotics, and cortisteroids, decongestants, depo shots and antibiotic shots. I had a chest xray that came back clear. Then I tried the health store and took lots of the natural antiinflamatory pills and lots of pills to rebuild the immune system. Now I'm trying the chiropractor. Nothing is getting me well. I,m getting worse! I cough up yellow-green plemgh, blow yellow-green stuff from my nose all day until I go to bed at night. My neck and shoulders and shoulder blades are killing me! I first got sick labor day weekend at Mexico Beach and now 4 months later am even sicker! What could this be? Why can't I get well?

The most likely explanation for your illness is that you acquired some type of unusual respiratory infection while in Mexico; a type of infection seldom seen in the US and thus one that your doctors are unlikely to recognize.  Here is what you should do.  You should seek consultation with an infectious disease specialist, with an interest in travel medicine.  Explain where you were when you became ill and ask if you could have a condition called Q-fever.

I'm no doctor, but the color of your mucous certainly suggests the possibility of an infection of some sort.  Has anyone taken any cultures?  You need to get to a doctor for an evaluation.  If you feel that your current doctor isn't helping, then you certainly have the right to get another opinion.
