terrible cognitive problems, exhaustion, asthma

Dear Doctor,
I have asthma and mixed sleep apnea and I've been crippled by the central apnea/osa, leg twitching/PLMD.  It was so bad I couldn't remember or read a sentence or work.  I started taking klonopin and I could sleep better but I'm still exhausted and foggy even on cpap and wheeze on exhale after I got the flu.  I tried exercising, theophylline, prednisone, dulera, singulair, zyfil and saw 15 doctors.  Is there a cure or medicine for my sleep breathing disorder?  I'm not that overweight at 190 pounds but would UPPP, tongue coblation, tonsilectomy and septum surgery help me?  I'm very happy to do the surgery soon
Thanks so much!!

thanks!  I went to 3 sleep specialists and they couldn't cure me and cpap doesn't work well for me.  the lab put me on 18/14 but it seemed too high.  on the graph my machine shoots up to 18 many times a night and shows unspecified apneas, hypopneas
I even made myself sick with asthma meds and GERD meds. only klonopin seems to help (it's a seizure med)

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
This sounds like a very complicated and difficult problem for you.  It is obviously affecting your life significantly.  It is impossible to give further advice without a more in depth evaluation.  I would suggest seeking care in an academic medical center which has strong programs in sleep medicine and pulmonary medicine to sort out what is going on before making further recommendations.   One suggestion for this evaluation is going to Denver to be seen at National Jewish Health which specializes in these types of problems.
