I was told by my doctor that i have Emphysema  and told me to quit smoking I've been smoking for 40 somrthing years. He did tell me any  thing else about it.I don't know how back it is or what to do.He went on vacantion after he told me the result.Now I worry about it.I did notice that i have been having bad back and chest pain. Right I'm working on stopping smoking.Can you help me out.

can you tell me why my doctor hasn't scheule anything for me yet?

see a pulmo doctor he will tell you every thing and order test to determine how bad it is.They make you blow in machine to see how much lung damage you have

Tony, you have got to stop smoking, most definitely, when my husband found out he had emphysema, he thought, well, heck, I have already got the disease, why stop now? If he had stopped earlier, the diseasde may not have spreas as quickly as it did!

The first time he was put on the respirator, I told him that yes, we BOTH had to quit smoking, which we did, thank God. But, the damage had been done, and now he is in the hospital , intubated for the fifth time. We both have accepted that he probaboly does not have long to go on this earth..

What you should take form this, is that yes, you DO have to stop smaoking, exercise as much as you can, and live a healthy life with good foods, etc.

Life is just TOO SHORT!!
