Hello,
It is important to know if the sex on Dec. 26 was protected with a condom or not. If it was protected, I would not think that any of the symptoms would have been of an STD nature. It sounds that you simply had a boil, perhaps from an in-growing hair, at the base of your penis, which has resolved with the antibiotics. However the oral sex and hand job received recently in January could have been the cause of your latest symptoms. It is likely to be thrush, but Chlamydia and Urethritis should also be excluded. There is also a possibility of herpes, even though it would be rather early for this, but not impossible. You need a swab to check for some of these infections, as well as a urine test.
Best wishes,
Dr Jose
Hello,
Regarding the Chinese medicine I'm afraid we are not able to answer that being orthodox Western educated doctors. I guess if she advised that then you have to go with it.
As far as the gonorrhoea etc is concerned then yes, you can be tested for it and identifed as having or not having it before symptoms have begun. Here in London we use PCR testing which is exquisitely sensitive from an early point.
best wishes, Sean
Therefore no need to worry about the first episode as was safe. Regarding the oral one, what I meant is that through receiving oral sex one can contract conditions like Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, NSU, thrush or even herpes, and you could test for all of this. Symptoms sound more like the ones related to thrush but I cannot be sure without examining you properely. Herpes would usually be painful. You could test for all this conditions with a urine sample and a swab, anytime from now.
Best wishes,
Dr Jose
You're welcome.
Well, anything is possible, but I doubt that she has missed anything. The more antibiotics you take the more likely it is that you will disturb the normal flora etc on the skin and so a fungal infection as a result of eliminating many of the natural bacteria is a possibility.
I would just leave everything alone for the next few days and just let it all settle. Try to avoid re-examining etc yourself and just let it rest. If in a few days its still the same then a further visit may be necessary but hold on for a few days.
best wishes, Sean
Thank you for the feedback. Having a language barrier between me and my healthcare can be a bit daunting. I'm very appreciative of all of the answers I've received.
I returned to the Chinese doctor and she had me do three swab tests, the one for mycoplasma apparently showed something, so she put me or more antibiotics and some antihistamines to deal with some itching I had developed (on my arms and scalp). I'm at the end of the antibiotic run and I've still felt a sort of slight itching/burning sensation around the base/side of my penis and a little just below the head. As far as I can tell there are no rashes or bumps (outside of what I'm pretty sure are the normal small bumps). Is there a possibility she missed an infection or the antibiotics didn't work?
I went to a Chinese doctor here as a follow up to my earlier infection. She dismissed the appearance of the skin and said she couldn't do any testing until the antibiotics were out of my system. She asked that I come back in a week. Does that sound right?
Can something like Gonorrhea be detected before serious symptoms have started? I have an occasional tingle/slight pain inside. It doesn't seem to be related to urinating. The discomfort still happens around the outside a little. But nothing serious yet.
Sorry to post this twice, but I realized I may not have posted this correctly.
The sex the first time was protected.
How soon is it possible to check for these things? So you would recommend a test for herpes and thrush, but not Clamydia and Urethritis, right? I'm not sure I've read your sentence correctly.
Thank you so much for the feedback and information. It can be difficult to get good medical care here and any information I can get is extremely helpful.
