Thank you Grace, but my latest question is not in regards to the scratches.
This is the question:
Also, I had sex saturday night (protected) and early monday morning my anus started to itch and burn terribly and I believe I saw a small bump; is this too early for HSV to show any symptoms?
I have a dr's appt set up for wednesday at around 4:00pm, but I'm afraid this itching/small bump will be gone by then and will not be able to be swabbed :(
you've been posting this on multiple forums now even after receiving a very informative response on the experts forum.
you've been given all the information we can possibly give to you online. at this point you need to continue to follow up with your doctor and/or dermatologist when you have active symptoms. it's not likely this is herpes going on.

I'm not sure, but most people in my family have, so I wouldn't doubt it.
You can get the "cuts" that appear, when they appear you can get them cultured for gential HSV-1.
Did you ever have cold sores as a child?

I have gotten the IgG HSV-2 and IgG HSV-1 test after well enough time to test; results were HSV-1 positive and HSV-2 negative; but I know HSV-1 infections could be from cold-sores as a child.
Hi
To know if you have genital herpes, test for it. IgG HSV-2, and igG HSV-1 are the tests you need.
From your last line, it doesn't sound like herpes to me.
Its good to think out of the box.
