Big bump on my penis

I didn't know what topic to put this under, because I don't know what it is.

Anyway, I found this huge (at least it seems so to me) bump on the shaft of my penis and it has me pretty worried.  When I first noticed it last night, it was a big red bump, then when I looked today I noticed that the top of it was turning dark in the middle.  It was not dimpled in the middle, rather just a big red bump.  There is only one of these bumps, no cluster or any other sign of an STD.  The "skin" of the bump (outside) was real shiny.  I haven't seen any pictures on the Internet that look anything like it, so I can't figure out what it is.

I say "was" because I was so worried about it, I decided to do something about it on my own.  I took a pair of fingernail clippers and made a small cut in it and a lot of white puss came out of it.  This puss could not be seen at all before I made the cut and it surprised me even more.  I soaked up all the puss out of the bump with toilet paper, and poured Witch Hazel on it (didn't have any alcohol in the house) and cleaned it out pretty good.  After that the bump was pretty much gone and it left a big crater in the middle where the bump was.  The skin around the bump is still raised...maybe from irritation from having the bump in the first place (it was raised before I cut the bump).  After that, I put Neosporin on the area where the bump was and the surrounding area and covered it with a bandaid (which I assume will be painful to remove).

There was not much pain associated with the bump, even cutting caused minimal pain.  It felt like I was touching regular skin when touching it...and was only slightly agitated when wearing cloths.

This part is not to be vulgar, but to let you know how long it's been there...I noticed it yesterday when I tried to masturbate and when I grabbed my penis it was pretty painful to grab the bump.  I masturbate once a day, and didn't notice it the day before...so it may have grown from nothing to a big bump in one day.

Does this sound like any STD you know of?  What could it be, and what should I do?  Was I wrong in the way I took care of it so far?

I have the exact same thing, I looked over this page and did what it said, I cut it open and no puss came out only blood. Does anyone have an answer for me too?

I'm not sure. Same thing with me. It appeared overnight and I didn't cut it, but I pricked it with a needle and only blood came out. It's the timing that worries me. I had unprotected sex with a girl(a moment of weakness for me) and she says she's only been with one other person and he was clean, but about 10 days later the bump showed up.

If its going away with those treatments, its probably just a cyst or pimple.  Don't overdo it though.  Doing those once or twice a day is plenty.

Going to see a doctor is easy and free, but there are a few problems with that...I am always either at work or at home, which means I would either have to tell my boss at work why I'm going to the hospital, or tell the boss at home.

I don't want to bring it up to either of them if there is nothing to worry about...there would be more than embarrassment either way.

On the bright side, the treatment I have been doing at home seems to be working.  I have been cleaning it with toilet paper, then witch hazel, then putting Neosporin on it and a bandaid.  I did this three times yesterday, and 2 times so far today...plan to do it again before I go to bed.  It seems to be going away almost as quickly as it showed up...meaning the healing process is working well and quickly.

I hope this isn't one of those things that goes away and shows up again later...or even shows up worse the next time around and I'll never be rid of it.

This probably isn't the answer you want to hear, but I think I'll just let it heal and hope it never shows up again...if it does, then I'll worry more and get myself checked.

Meanwhile, I'll refrain from sex with the wife until it is completely cleared up.

I agree.  Could even have been a pimple.

well it dosent sound like a std..herpes for example doesnt have puss in it. but just to get the answer you looking for why not make a stop at your doc. or a free std clinic just to get it looked at. :) relax though it isnt sounding like an Std.

Thanks for your input!

I looked this up and it seems unlikely, as I didn't pull any kind of solid material out of it...just cut it and the creamy puss started pouring out.  It also didn't look like it was under regular skin...it was real red and dark.

Another thing is that it is supposed to be slow growing.  I didn't notice it the day before, then all the sudden it was there and huge!  Not as big as many of the pictures of STDs I looked at today were (or many of the sebaceous cysts either) but it looked big to me.

I would say it was about 1/8 of an inch tall and 1/8 inch in diameter (guessing) which is a huge bump to me since I've never had anything like this before and it appeared over night.

You could be right, though, some of what I read could point to that.  Anyone else have any opinions?

It could have been a sebaceous cyst... those are fairly common down there and are filled with puss when infected and inflamed.

I have looked and looked and I can't find any pictures that look anything like the bump I had...

Does anyone have any ideas?

I just read the posting tips (I know it's a little late now...) so I wanted to add that I am in Japan.  I don't need any help on where to go to get help, I already know.  I'll admit, though, I'm a little shy and embarrassed to do so...so I want to get any information I can before I do.
