Not an answer buts that 1gram dose of Zithromax taken at once by a 100 lb  35 year old  female. I know there are some Zithromax resistant strains so if symptoms don’t disappear than the answer is obvious but any thoughts to aid my anxiety are appreciated as I can’t get to the confidential clinic for week or so

It is possible you can cure gonorrhea with monotherapy.
However, it is NOT recommended, like you said, resistance is high. Please do not randomly take drugs. You are harming yourself. You might breed antibiotic resistant bacteria. Gonorrhea is  very resistance to a lot of classes of antibiotic. By taking drugs randomly, you might increase the resistance. In the end, no drug might be able to treat you.
Finish the course.
Go get a test for cure two weeks  after the drug is finished.

I know it was wrong just to take what I had.  What do y’all u mean finish the course? I took the 1gm I had all at once.  Do you mean wait for it to do its job for two weeks and then test? If so that is my plan as I was going to go a little sooner than that even when I can get out there

Hi I wanted to follow up.  The odor in my urine and need to urintate went away in less than 24 hours but I still got a dull pain in my gut but is is lessened.  Could the Zithromax be curing?  And again I know need to be tested again in 2 weeks

If you read pubmed, there are studies that shows that azithromycin can treat gonorrhea. I believe it is a good sign your symptoms are clearing up. Azithro is a bacteriostatic antibiotic and it takes time for it to work.

One more question.  I heard back from a friend that I told in confidence and she mentioned she has a .5g Zithromax from a past prescription she didn’t use.  Given I only took 1gm on sat and 2g is recommend at one (Monday) now would it be a good idea to take thst too? She would drop it off this evening.  Sorry.  Scared and can’t clinic not until the weekend.

Please dont and stop randonly taking azithromycin like that. Please dont, it will further complicate the situation. It might further increase bacteria resistance.
All you can hope is that the drug u took cured the infectionm
Just go get tested and dont do any other things till then.
And how do u know u have gonorrhea? U should really consult a doctor

I believe I have it because someone that slept with me told they tested positive for it.  Yes I know I need to see a dr.   I need to keep it confidential due to family and their religion so can get to the confidential clinic outside of my area until later this week.   Based on what you mentioned about two weeks should I wait that long if symptoms disappear or get tested this up coming weekend like I planned?   Thank you again for your responses.  It helps with stress prior to the dr visit

Symptoms should disappear within a few days, up to 3 days.
