Could I have a staph infection in my anus or an anal abscess?

Hi. I’m hoping someone can help as I’m in a lot of pain. I am a gay man who receives anal sex. I’ve always had little tears every now and again in my anus that have never been painful and always healed quickly by themselves. One week ago I was rimmed by another man and then we had protected sex. Yesterday (7 days later) I could barely move with the pain in my anus. The pain is constant. I went to see my GP today and she says she thinks there is an anal fissure. She also mentioned the possibility of an anal abscess but put that to one side for the moment.  I have had a fever a couple of times today and some chills. My GP does not know I am gay for a variety of reasons and is assuming this happened as a result of constipation. My concern is this: could this be something more serious? I read up about anal abscesses and I have all the symptoms - I’m worried about a staph infection from the nose of the guy who rimmed me. Could this be possible? I’m in a lot of pain and feel very afraid. Any advice welcomed. I’ve been prescribed rectogesic ointment and antibiotics (alphaclav and metronide). Thanks
