Can gonorrhea go into lymphatic system with no other symptoms

I caught an std over a year ago, with swollen lymph nodes and and a urethral discharge being the first symptoms. I was treated with cipro, with no results and then went to the ER and was given a shot of rocephin, a 1000 mg of Zithromax and prescribed doxycycline. The discharge went away, and the lymph swelling in my left armpit, left elbow and behind my left knee went down by about 1/3, but stayed swollen and irritated for over a year. I had unprotected sex after that with only one woman for a few months, but I always pulled out and never ejaculated in her. We broke up and I still had the swollen and tender lymph nodes. I never tested positive for anything other than that I had been exposed during my lifetime to EBV, so my nurse practioner assumed I had mono, even though I tested negative on mono spot tests. Now a in March I began having sex with a hooker. She has no teeth. After receiving unprotected oral from her I would then use a condom for vaginal sex with her. I had sex with her like this for 5 weeks, then I took a chance at unprotected sex with her, telling myself that if she had anything I would have probably caught it from her through the oral with her having no teeth. Then a couple of weeks after having unprotected sex I began having an obvious std, with new lymph nodes being tender and swollen like the other ones still were. But with taking the Zithromax the swelling went down in the newly inflamed lymph nodes, and with the rocphin shot and more Zithromax the old swollen lymph nodes show marked reduction in size and irritation, although still inflamed. I am wondering if I could have been carrying this std for over a year, and that I may have been the one to infect the prostitute and then reinfected myself. I do not think this is likely, but there is definitely a reduction in the pain and swelling I have had for the prior year. I am on my way to the E.R. now to see about another shot of rocephin and Zithromax, as the stuff almost went away and is coming back again. I'll post on whether they want me to just let it come back for a couple of weeks so they can get a good swab or if they want to just try to knock it out with aggressive antibiotic therapy, as it responds to Zithromax and rocphin but not to cipro or doxy. I am just curious about my hypothesis if I could have been a carrier with no discharge and infected someone and reinfected myself.

After two years of swollen lymph nodes levofloxacin has made a remarkable reduction in the swelling. Still not 100% back to normal, but much better so far.

Well at least, you manage to find the underlying cause.
I hope you got treated for Trichomoniasis.

As for chlamydia issues... I suggest you get appropriate STD tests for all bacterial infections:
Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, UreaPlasma and Mycoplasma (I would suggest Trichomoniasis, but its unnecessary since it was already isolated).

Also, be responsible and contact that sex worker without teeth to let her know about your condition.

Turned out that a lot of these problems were from trich, which was not picked up on the urinalysis analyzer. Metronidazole helped, although I still have the lymphatic problem that I had prior to the trich, chlamydia issues.

We have different forums for different issues where people with knowledge answer. So about general STD's it's here, and post to 1 thread. Herpes, HPV, HIV and Hep's have seperate forums.

OK, but this is so confusing. If I post multiple questions people complain saying post it all in one. When I post in one, people tell me to post in multiple. : )

You are going to have to post in the HIV and Hep C forums for more info on them.

High alb/ protein,elevated wbc @ 9.7 mm^3, normal counts on segs 67.8, lymph 23.6, mono 6.3, baso 0.3, eos 2.0?

I had renal function panel that showed elevated albumin 5.10 g/dl ( rr 3.10-4.70)) and total protein 8.4 g/dl (rr 6.3-8.2) elevated wbc at 9.7 mm^3 ( rr 3.5-9.0) but segs, lymphs, monos, eos and basos in normal %'s. I have had swollen lymph nodes for a year, but two months ago got chlamydia and got rid of the infection through antibiotics but have symptoms of Reiter's Syndrome, with arthritic type pains, was having recurrent urethral discharge, was having really red eyes, but that had all cleared, except I feel like I have proctitis or infection in tube that comes out of the prostate to urethra Urine culture was negative and no bacteria on microscopy of urinalysis. No discharge in past month. My understanding is that HIV or Hep C would cause a drop in wbc count, not elevated. Is this correct? Could these results show possible prostatitis where chlamydia is just in prostate? Could I have a lymphoma or would the wbc be much higher and have elevated lymphs? I have been having traces of protein in my urinalysis for the past three years, and take lisinopril for hypertension, and was dehydrated to the point that they gave me an iv bag of saline before sending me home.

you've been over treated for gonorrhea and chlamydia at this point. no reason to think you have infection with either.

you need to be following up somewhere besides the ER - they aren't the best place for these sorts of issues :(

Well, the Urologist refused to see me as I do not have medical insurance. I went to the ER and got a shot of Rocephin 500 mg, and 1000 mg of Zithromax. My red eyes turned to almost normal, and urethral discharge went away for 6 days. On the fifth night I started feeling burning in my urethra, pain in scrotal tubes, pains in nervous system in arms and ankles. By mid day on the sixth day I had a urethral discharge and red eyes again. Actually waking in the am, I had yellow crust on my eye lids and redness in the whites of my eyes. I went back to the ER and got another shot pf Rocephin 500 mg and 1000mg of Zithromax. DIscharge is gone today, but I still have some scrotal pain and urethral discomfort. I did find the Canadian recommended treatment for LGV which is what I think my original infection was last year. I think that I had LGV, and cleared the discharge part but have chlamydia in my lymphatic system, and that I either gave the woman chlamydia and reinfected myself, or I just picked up a new infection from her and that it reacted with my body. Either way I have the symptoms of chlamydial caused Reiter's Syndrome. I have had four 1000 mg Zithromax treatment plus two 500 mg Rocephin shots. The recommended treatment is apparently 1 g Zithromax for three weeks, but it said 'empirically' which means to basically try it and see what happens. As the Zithromax has significantly helped to control the urethral discharge, all I can do is keep trying to get Zithromax on a weekly basis and hope it eventually cures the discharge for good. The lymphatic problem has alleviated somewhat with this as well, but is definitely still swollen, tender and obviously involved. I hope this helps some of the people on here who have posted the same symptoms and are told that there is no such disease. There is a lot of information on peer reviewed articles that there is definitely a rise in LGV  and chlamydial Reiter's Syndrome in the Western Civilization now. However, there is not a lot of recommendation on how to treat it, which his why I had to look into the Canadian Public Health Agency recommend treatment.

Sorry about that Grace. It is such a complicated situation I have been trying to think my way through it. I am fairly sure that I have Reiter's Syndrome. I went to the ER and got another shot of rocephin and another gram of Zithromax, and a referral to a Urologist. The fact that my lymphatic problem seems to be responding to something made me start this new thread, as it is kind of a separate issue. I read on a reliable medical post that Reiter's Syndrome can indeed cause reinfection if you have unprotected sex with someone when you have it, but they would not be put at risk for it. But it is supposed to rarely involve the lymphatic system. But I had reddish eyes, especially in the evenings and mornings, spine pain, shooting arthritic pain in my wrists and ankles, recurrent urethritis that should have cleared with antibiotics. I will post on this thread if it is still open after I see the Urologist. Even with three years of medical training it has taken me over a year to start to figure out what may be going on with my symptoms.

it's really helpful when you just keep adding to your original post instead of making new ones. that way everyone can see your whole "story" instead of repeating previous info - thanks!

Hi, before you get treated get tested. Just a simple swap or urine should tell you something of this unknown. Then do a follow up with a blood test for other possiblilites. Antibiotics are really not something to take all the time.
