Can this be an std?

I had oral sex about 2 weeks ago and then about 4 days ago the roof of my mouth has developed a painful red spot and my throat feels like I have flu. Can this be an std?

Did you give oral sex? If you gave oral sex, it's possible it's syphilis or herpes. If you only received oral sex, then no. STDs give symptoms at the infection site, so if you received oral sex, you'd have genital symptoms, not oral.

You really should get it checked, regardless of the cause, though.

Thanks so much for your reply. I gave oral, but today there has been a big change. The painful red spot is almost gone and it's not painful anymore. I'm able to eat food without pain. Should I still do the check up or maybe the painful spot was  just a normal bruise. How long do herpes or syphilis symptoms last?
I'd still get it checked.

It's not syphilis - that sore would last a few weeks, and it probably wouldn't have appeared that soon anyway.

A herpes sore would also probably last longer, though the time frame for it appearing is right.

In any case, since it's something that happened without you knowing why, it's a good idea to get it checked, even if it's not an STD.
Alright thanks so much, I'll go for a check up. Just to update you, today the pain is completely gone. I'm eating without any problem
