I tested positive for Chlamydia after having it for 2 months in my body. My doctor prescribed me Azithromycin tablets to take as one dose and then gave me an injection of Ceftriaxone and prescribed me Doxycycline and Metronidazole after I told him I was still having severe abdominal pain. However, my doctor said that after the pelvic exam and ultrasound, he did not suspect that I had PID and that a laparoscopy would be more definitive to diagnose it. I am almost done with the antibiotics and my symptoms have improved and I will follow up with him to re test for Chlamydia 10 days after I am finished with the antibiotics. My concern is that I am having severe hip pain on my left and right side and have pain in my legs as well as some sparkling pain on my left and right abdominal side. I saw my PCP and he said that he is not sure if I have PID because I have a good medical history and he gave me cyclobenzaprine to treat my back pain, which has helped. After contacting my gyn about this pain and PCP, both said that this is an orthopedics issue and I have scheduled for a Physical Therapy consult on Monday. I am just curious if this pain will go away with PT since the pain meds are not helping and what is the likelihood that this is related to PID? I also would like to know how I can go to work in this kind of pain if it does not get resolved. I really don't know if the Chlamydia left scar tissue and if I am still able to have kids or not. Since the infection, I have had all kinds of pain in different areas of my body and I am getting scared. Can you go to work and how do you manage your life if you have PID?
