Diagnosed with NGU, testing option question

Hi, I have been diagnosed with NGU as my gonorrhea and chlamydia tests came back negative. I had mild discharge (only if you milked it..grey/clear) 3 weeks after exposure along with burning/stinging in the urethra. The clinic didn't treat me till after the results but by this time I felt like it had spread to my testicles, I had groin pain in my pubic area, also had hip pains and cramping in my hip/lower abdomen area. Does anyone know what this may be?

My question though besides what it may be is whether or not aurine analysis is worthwhile doing and if it would tell me what bacteria is effecting me?

Thanks for any help!

hey thanks for your quick response. The pains I'm feeling are similar to those felt before going on antibiotics so it worries me that this will come back full force whatever it may be.

I also have pain in the lower pelvic region, where my hips and thighs meet...I;ve read other posts on many forums and it seems like there are quite a few people with this issue and it seems nobody is able to figure out the issue...maybe its an undiagnosed or new STI?

I'm guess what I have is not viral as the antibiotics would have no effect on it (even though it took nearly a week and a half of doxy to feel noticeably different). If it were gtrich, would antibiotics have an affect on it to some degree? I understand it may not eradicate it completely but it may possibly knock it on its *** for awhile?

you could have burning on the tip due to irritation from fiddling around with the lil guy so often or even a fungal infection starting from all your antibiotics.  try not to examine him more than once a day and see if that helps.

aches in the groin area can be many things, even just increased gas from being on multiple antibiotics too.

hey thanks Grace, I still feel some aches in my groin area and the tip of my penis burns but other than those discomforts its generally ok. I'm just wishing it would all go away. I'm assumming it could take a few weeks for the itching or burning to subside since it may be nerve related?

you shouldn't be milking your penis hard. the discharge you are describing though sounds completely normal.  don't think that normal things are abnormal!

you've covered your bases. your symptoms are better. no reason for more testing  unless things come back full force again which if they do, be seen and get retested with a urine test and also a prostate exam.

Hey Jesse, I had all other tests done... All negative. I'm hoping I'll be alright. What was your experience and what was prescribed to you, the timeline of your symptoms and lack of during the treatment? If you don't care to chat about it here send me a note :)
the only thing thst worries me still is the fact that I still get a clear/grey discharge when I milk it hard :( gets me discouraged!

Again you tested for the two main ones (bacterial stds) through urine samples.
So you know, The bacteria-syphilis is done through drawing blood; your symptoms are NOT consistent with syphilis.  If you want to know what else it could be your going to have to face other tests, but hey if you must you must.

from you last post, sounds like the deoxycyclin and azithromycin are doing it.  Give it another one or two weeks for your medication to stay kicked it.  I was in your shoes a while ago and it took almost a month be 100% again.     Drink cranberry juice, and vitamin C pills (especially after dinner), make your urine acidic; drink more water too, if you  can drink 1/4 shot of apply cider vinegar twice a day; <--helped me.   I personally think your going to get better given your medication.

Hey grace,

I was prescribed cipro when the pain became too unbearable. My gp said it was probably epididymis. The cipro did nothing and after 4 days I had to take doxycycline which started to improve my symptoms noticeably a few days later, significantly a week and a half later and at the end o the two week course I was 90% better. I was gven azithromycin and decided to take it at the end of the two week cycle incase it was mycoplasma and figure it wouldn't hurt. The majority of the bur ing athe tip of my
penis had subsided a few days later and I felt nearly 100%. I still get a tingle/ burning sensation from time to time at the tip, it still looks irritated but my understanding it could be like this for a while due to inflammation.

It's an odd thing, I have pains in my hips, where my thigh bones connect and also on the outer back parts of my hips sometimes. Otherwise I've been pretty good aside from that and it's been 4 days off antibiotics and have only felt the occassional pain in the groin and hips to remind me of what was or still could be there.

Well the initial urine analysis was for gonorrhea and chlamydia... I'm curious if a urinalysis can be done for evidence of other bacteria and if any is present, can one be specifically identified through such a test...

"My question ... is whether or not aurine analysis is worthwhile doing and if it would tell me what bacteria is effecting me?

You did have a urine analysis, (i presume from your tests which are negative), you've ruled out two of the main bacterias.   If you're thinking about epididymitis or prostatitis, thats really up to you and your medical provider to decide, when it comes to matters of non specific NGU you really should be working with an STD specialist/Urologist or doctor who knows their STDs.
