Fellatio is safe?

Hi all,

I am a mid-30s male, married, and straight with no experience with guys.  However, I met a straight married guy who is very interested in me going down on him. The only thing he has done outside of marriage is have guys go down on him, since his wife won't do it.  I have to admit that I am curious, but of course would be concerned about STDs should he ejaculate in my mouth. He claims to be 100% clear, but of course there is no guarantee without a spate of test results.  Is oral really safe sex for the giver? Any post-ejaculate things I can do, like rinse with listerine to minimize the change for infection?

Oral sex is low risk for both. If you met this guy then you must have been looking for this. I would take a look at your marriage before you did anything.

Yes, true.  No one expects to get an STI, and sometimes their overconfidence means they don't check, especially if it asymptomatic.  I will ask for a blood test.  No test, no deal.

I disagree with you...not very very low...low risk. Just because someone is married does not mean that he takes extra care or that he doesn't have a STD and not know it. I see several people on here talk about getting a STD from oral sex.

Thanks, that's my overall conclusion too.  Lots of warnings on various web sites, but I have yet to find a single user posting anywhere who presents an actual case where an STI was transmitted.  That tells me that the risk is very, very low.  Plus his being married (and therefore more likely careful) reduces the risk that much more.
