Follicles, warts??

Ok, bear with me...I am starting to realize that I am a true hypochondriac. Not sure if I should be posting this here or the derm forums.
I have these whiteish looking dots about the size of a pin head. When I was at dr.s for my pap, I had asked if they were warts...she told me they are my hair follicles and because I was tan, they stood out more. Well, it's almost like they have white hairs or maybe its the skin when I try to pop them...Note, there is no pus or fluid of any kind. They are on both sides of my bikini line and on the folds of skin around vagina. I have to wear flame retardant uniform jeans at work and they are probably a size too small, so they do rub and I sweat a lot also. And I might add that I can see them on my inner thighs too. Just hoping to get a little insight on what it could possibly be. They are always there. I am probably going to have to make another apt with doc to ease my mind. But thanks in advance to any answers, thoughts or comments!

Sorry, but I'm inclined to trust your doctor's judgment. But follow through as planned with a dermatologist.

What I said was that the GENITAL wart strains do not readily infect other parts of the body aside from the genital or anal area, and to a lesser extent the mouth. I am unaware of evidence that they can involve places like the armpits. Non-genital skin warts that can take hold almost anywhere, however.

Well, from what I have read is that you CAN transfer warts to other parts of body with razor, towels, etc.  I appreciate your comments, but, I know MY body and these bumps, warts or spots on my body are NOT normal! They have not been there before and have just raised some concern with me.

The genital wart strains don't grow on most areas of the body. I've never heard of them being transmitted to the armpits by shaving or any other mechanism. But that's irrelevant, since it's obvious you don't have warts either genitally or in your armpits.  Your description sounds like normal skin to me -- but more important, it seems your doctor considers it normal.

Let it go.

I guess another thing is, do I go see my OB/GYN or a dermatologist? If thy were just under my breasts the derm seems the correct choice, but since they look similar to the bikini area ones, it makes me wonder. And sometimes it itches too? do warts itch??
thanks in advance!!

OK, so I did go back to the doctor. She didn't see the "bumps" that I was talking about. Now, I see the same flesh colored bumps under my armpits and sort of going down the sides of my arms and also under my breasts!! I do have a few little bumps that look like either skin tags or warts in my armpits and a few around the arm where your bra would sit. Question of the day is...I know I have used the same razor "down there" and on my pits. Can you transfer warts that are under your pits to the bikini area? Or vice versa?? I know they say that genital warts have to live on your genitals...but there are many different kinds of warts. Is there some cream I should use first before crawling back to the Doctors office again?! If you can transfer these to different areas, should my hubby be on the lookout??

Warts and hair follicles don't look anything like each other. There is no way your doctor would confuse them, so you can rely on her judgment.

They do not sound like warts. I think you are fine.
