Genital Warts question

I was just diagnosed with genital warts. My wife, and partner of 4 years, has never had them or even shown symptoms. The only other partner I had was over 5 years ago, and my symptoms did not appear until about 1 year ago. Is it possible that my wife carries the virus and transmitted it to me, even though she's never had any visible symptoms of her own?

I think the most important response here is that all people eventually acquire the HPV virus and it is extremely common amoung young women.  Your wife could have had the virus for years and years and showed no signs.  Remember this flyer, regardless HPV is inevitable like a cold or a allergy, it can eventually cause serious problems but no one has control over this much like breast cancer, you will eventually learn that any concerns or thought into HPV is unnecessary if you show symptoms simply have a doctor eliminate the warts.

Cheers.

Hmmm...considering it happened in a communal shower, staph is a possibility too.  If someone has athletes foot it can spread staph.  If the bumps get to where they are draining and you start to run a temp get in to see a Dr.   Genital warts have a strange shape.  They don't look like the warts you get on your hands.   Also you could very well have a urinary tract infection (UTI) which can cause bumps around the tip of the penis in men and near the cervix for women.  If you are still having sensitivity when going to the bathroom I suggest checking with your Dr.
Hope this helped.
Lotsa luck to ya,

The weirdest thing about my situation is that the bumps first appeared a day or two after nicking myself a few times while shaving my pubic area. At the time, the shower was shared amongst 3 other roommates, so I initially figured I must have caught something from one of them having used my razor. I came to find out that the wart virus cannot live on inanimate objects, so if they truly are genital warts, the razor thing must have just been a total coincidence. Seems weird to me. I'm still hoping that it's something other than warts, but one doc says one thing, and another doc, something else. Any thoughts?

Sometimes you won't have any symptoms from a few months to a few years.  You can carry the virus and pass it on but the virus is transmitted sexually.  Genital warts will eventually go away with proper treatment.
Ronald, sounds like your girl might have passed on a yeast infection.  Eat up on some yogurt for a few days and that should help.

Good luck!

No, the bumps have never itched and are really only around the very base of my penis and in the pubic hair. They basically just appeared one day, and have never caused any burning or stinging either (except after I've tried to treat them). Of the symptoms you're mentioning, it sounds very much like it could be chlamydia. Unfortunately, I contracted it a few years back and had the same symptoms you describe, though I also noticed some sensitivity while urinating. The good thing is that it's easliy treatable through medication.Get it checked out by a doctor.
