Health Concerns. Please help me.

Hello all,
About 9 months ago, I started experiencing some weird symptoms. This includes white smelly buildup on my tongue, as well as a lot of tonsil stones and dark red tonsils. Additionally, I have a swollen lymph node on the right of my neck which has been swollen since then. I also have a slight burning pain in my left armpit. My only sexual experience ever was around the time these symptoms began. At first, I thought it could be HIV, but Teak and other medhelp members have told me this would be impossible as my exposure was protected anal and unprotected oral. Additionally, the guy it was with tested negative for HIV six months after our sex. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing these symptoms? What should I be looking for? Also, around the same time as my sexual experience, I was bit by a rabid animal and received rabies shots. Are there any zoological diseases which could cause this? Or perhaps a reaction to the shots? If anyone has any info or advice which could help me, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Hi Grace,
I saw the ENT and he believes all my symptoms are due to chronic tonsil infections. He advised me to have them removed. I also had my doctors feel my lymph nodes and they said its nothing to worry about and its probably just them reacting to my mouth troubles. Additionally, I am getting a CT scan of my sinuses and stuff to make sure everything is okay. I still can't shake the fear that it might be HIV but I'm trying to. Thank you for your help and console.

following up with the ENT is the  best thing to do.

odds are this is an oral fungal infection going on though you also could have GERD or even allergies/sinusitis will cause an irritating post nasal drip and white tongue too.  I really would not be thinking std's at all.

Sorry about that Grace. Thank you. And as I have been away at college, it's been hard to get in to see him. Now that I am on summer break, I'll be seeing an ENT next week. My primary care doctor did a general throat culture and nothing showed up, but I would like a second opinion as my symptoms continue. So, you said you really don't think it could be STD related? I was thinking gonorrhea for a while, but I was told its very unlikely that it would not have resolved by now, even without treatment.

I can't afford to ask a doctor on here at the moment, but I will go see my own doctor and ask about these symptoms too.

Okay, I think I will try both of those. Thank you for your help. I've been really scared to go back for the last couple months because I was scared I could have HIV.

You might do yourself a favor if your looking for expert advise. Go to the expert forum and for a slight fee a doctor will give their opinion. You might want to go back and ask the doctors who treated you for the rabies as they are also experts i this.
