How is it possible to have caught chlamydia orally but not vaginally?

Me and my partner have recently had full std screenings. My results have come back with all clear ‘down there’ for all stds however throat chlamydia has been detected. Im very confused that we have had unprotected sex but I have no infection vaginally. Could this be a result of a previous partner? Or is there any reason why I’d have only caught this orally? Could I have passed chlamydia on to my partner from oral sex and having this infection in my throat?

They did a swab from my throat and the results came in a week afterwards but as I said all clear for everything everywhere else so I’m very confused but I’m going on Monday to receive an antibiotic course I don’t feel like a professional would have this incorrect?

Hi most std experts advise that chlamydia cannot be transmitted to the throat and if it did, its extremely rare and i would suspect you had a false positive. How were you diagnosed with this in your throat? Testing for this is most effective with a swab and the NAAT test.

This was by my local gum clinic I went for a full std screening after a scare from my boyfriend. My results came back today all clear for everything everywhere except I have chlamydia in my throat. Bit baffling and confused how this would have happened but not contracted it vaginally when I have had unprotected sex with my boyfriend.
How did you test positive
