Penis, burn from disinfectant, STd risk

I apologize for asking what might be a stupid question, but after a breakup I went for what I expected to be a regular accupressure massage while I was staying in NJ. Long story short it was actually more than a massage place and I had protected oral and protected sex (which I know are generally no, or exceedingly low, risk).

My concern is that afterwards she put what I assume was some kind of disinfectant around my penis and it actually burned the skin on my testicals and around the shaft and head, but I didn’t have any visible cuts. It burned even more when she put a hot towel on right after that. My fear is that maybe I had a bunch of microabrasions or something and that this created risk because I know the condom did not cover the bottom of the shaft or my testicals. I do not shave down there so it wouldn’t be from something like that.

I am really scared because other than cuts or microabrasions I don’t know why it would burn. Why would it burn? And if there were microabrasions doesn’t that put me at risk for a bunch of stuff? I apologize for taking your time on what might be an unusual question.

If she did all this with the disinfectant and towel after the sex, how is this a risk? After sex is over, there is no more risk.

And from here on out, don't let anyone put anything on your penis - or anywhere on your body - unless you know for sure what it is. It probably wasn't some kind of disinfectant - I can't imagine why she'd be concerned about cleaning your penis, but I have no idea what it was. In any case, there was no risk for any STD from this, and don't have sex again until your penis heals.

AuntJessie,

Thank you! Quick follow up if that is okay. What she put on didn’t actually leave a burn, but it caused a strong burning sensation for a few seconds. My concern was that I had microabrasions before she put the stuff on and that’s why it burned. Would that have been a risk?

She is Korean and seemed very concerned with being sanitary in general, which is why I think she put it on. She put some on herself too. You are totally right that I should have asked what it was first! I thought it was just water, and should have asked to be sure. Also, thank you very much for leading this community. For those of us without a lot of knowledge on these issues it is a real service and amazing that you take the time to help so many people!
Ohhh. Well, you had protected sex, so it doesn't matter about abrasions. Things like gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU, HIV, Hep B, etc., need to get into your urethra, so you still aren't at risk.

You can still get syphilis, herpes and HPV when using a condom, but condoms reduce the risk significantly. Can you think of anything you'd have done to cause the abrasions, if that's what they were?

Don't put too much stock into having abrasions. It's likely that whatever she put on you just burns, abrasions or no. Go enjoy your weekend, and don't worry.
Thank you! I can’t think of anything that would have caused microabrasions other than drying roughly with a towel, but your explanation that it probably would have burned regardless makes the most sense! Have a great weekend!
