Positive for Chlamydia after Azithromycin Treatment?

I am a male and my female partner engaged in unprotected sex; oral and vaginal. We took an STD test shortly afterwards and confirmed we were both positive for chlamydia.

We we both prescribed 1000mg of azithromycin, 4 bills at 250mg. After 7 days of taking the medication we engaged in protected vaginal sex (condom). About 2 weeks later we performed unprotected oral sex (both of us giving and receiving) and continued with protected vaginal sex.

4 weeks after taking azithromycin I got re-tested for chlamydia which my results came back as negative. Her's came back as positive.

How common is it for 1000mg azithromycin not to be effective for clamydia?

Could it be possible that somehow she was re-infected when we had unprotected oral after two weeks on azithromycin? Wouldn't I still be positive as well?

Hi, sometimes a second dose is needed depending on the person but also there are false positives depending on the test. If it was a swab then that would be conclusive but with a urine a false positive can occur.

I also want to report that she has not been with anybody else throughout the 4 weeks after taking Azithromycin. Neither have I.
