Possibility of STD?

Last week on Wednesday I had oral sex with a guy I’ve been seeing for a few weeks, the next day my throat was a bit sore but after a few days it went away (assumed it was physical soreness). I did again on Saturday and my throat was sore again the day after but I assumed it would go away, come Monday it was much worse and Tuesday my throat was swollen and I had white patches everywhere with pain to swallow. Wednesday was the worst with a fever and pain when swallowing so I saw a GP where I was given pain killers and antibiotics for strep throat since she thought it might be the cause. Yesterday (Friday) I went back as I was in lots of pain (however slightly better) and was diagnosed with tonsillitis and given more pain killers and told to continue with my treatment, I definitely have gotten somewhat better but there’s still swollen tonsils and a burning pain in my throat and an awful taste in my mouth. I know of two other people in the last two weeks that have gotten strep in my community and people have said a “throat” thing has been spreading around, but I wonder is there any risk that it’s an STD? Is it possible? Or am I overreacting/overthinking the situation and it’s actually a strep/virus caused case of tonsillitis?
