Possible to Inhale an std?

I have a friend who came to me extremely anxious and worried last night. Long story short, we both go to a university which has a party school reputation, and is in a small college town with a lot of homeless, drug use, and crazy sexual activity. Anyways, he told me that he dropped a book when he went to take a test yesterday evening, and that when he went to pick up the book, a “shady looking guy wearing a hood, sagging his pants, rapping and walking like a pimp” walked right next to him and almost touched him. He said that his mouth was open since he mouth breathed, and the guys feet, legs, hands, etc “almost barely” touched his mouth since his face was somewhat close to the ground. Additionally, he told me that since he has problems swallowing food/liquids correctly, he irritates his throat and chest by coughing somewhat everyday, and has had a little bit of blood in his mucous sometimes. I know that std’s are called sexually transmitted diseases for a reason, which is what I’ve told him, but he is still concerned. Anyways, Is this a legitimate risk to be concerned about? Thanks for the help!
