Prolonged sore throat

Hello,

About over 7 months ago I started dating a man who seemed clean to me.  We had unprotected sex + oral.  From 5 months ago I've had a bad throat which had gotten very bad in between and 3 courses of sntibiotics made me feel a bit better but the soreness + discomfort lingers on.  About 2 months ago I got infected with what my Geynea thinks was Primary outbreak of Genital Herpes.  I did my first HSV testing at 3 weeks after infection which came negative.  I did another which came Equivocal sitting at 0.9 on both HSV1 & 2 IGg.  Which I presume proves I've contracted Herpes from my partner.  I've not had physical contact since the day of my infection with my partner and I've been in such a shock and feel so betrayed about other things too, that I have actually shut him out.  Could my lingering throat ache / discomfort / soreness be an STD of the throat?  I'm an Indian and culturally I do not find articulate and detailed answers to such personal questions from my gynea.

Any advise / help will be great help.

Many thanks,

jejj

It is never a bad idea to test for all STD's after unprotected sex.

Hi,

I should get all the tests done to be on the safer side- right?  Also, last HSV test came Equivocal but considering my partner's test has come positive now and I've had an outbreak genitally- its obvious that I have HSV 1 & 2 like him right?

Does having Herpes make you more prone to contracting other STDs and STIs?  or are HSV + people leading normal lives?  I'm paranoid I'll get AIDS.

HIV-3 months...all others a lot less time except for herpes but you have done that test already.

also, I'm not getting paranoid or anything- am I, if I do a full on check for every STD + STI possible?  How long do all these Diseases and Infections take to chow up?  How long does HIV take to show up?

A sore throat could be a sign of gonorrhea, but most of the time no symptoms happen with oral gonorrhea. So while possible I would say not likely. Best advice is to have a throat swab done and you can test for gonorrhea as well as other bacterial infections.
