Rash and heat down there - STD or yeast?

I'm a married guy, but regrettably I had protected sex with a total stranger about 7 weeks ago. The very next day, I starting feeling strange sensations (tingling/irritation) in my crotch. I convinced myself that this was all just my head playing tricks on me...so I tried to ignore it. After a couple weeks, it pretty much went away. But suddenly last week (about 6 weeks after), the tingling/prickly/burning sensations came back. And then I noticed a very disticnt red burning rash develop on my scrotum and underside of my shaft (basically where the two rest together). I have not developed any sores or red bumps or anything else that seem like classic STD symptoms...the only other noticeable thing is that the hair follicles on my inner thighs are a bit inflamed (not red, just a little raised). In addition, I seem to just be radiating a lot of "heat" from my body down there - sometimes I can literally feel the temperature difference on the skin in my lower abdomen, etc. I've also noticed some general skin sensitivity around my waist band where clothes rub. It seems worth noting that the sensations aren't really "itchy" - they are more prickly/burning in nature. Also, no burning sensations when urinating.

A few months ago, my wife had mutliple yeast infections...and since I've been on antibiotics for years now (acne), I convinced myself that it could be a male yeast infection. Last week when the rash showed up, I immediately started applying an anti-fungal creme (Monistat 7) twice a day. A week later, the rash is almost complete gone and most of the tingling/prickly/burning sensations are gone too. Although I still feel the "heat" radiating from my groin and lower abdomen at times.

Does this sound like a male yeast infection to anyone? The Monistat has definately helped, so that gives me hope that this is really just a yeast infection and not an STD. For what it's worth, I did contact the woman I had the encounter with, and she swears she has never had an STD and doesn't now - no idea if I can believe her though. My symptoms don't seem to match any of the common symptoms for any STD, so I'm wondering if this really is just a rare male yeast infection, the the timing was just really bad with my "regrettable encounter."

I'm too embarrased to go to my doctor about this...any help or insights you have would be greatly appreciated!

No it does not sound STD related.

Thanks for the response. Does it sound like any STD symptoms you're familiar with? I just really need the sense of relief knowing that this isn't an STD (but I know only a doctor can rule that out for sure). Just curious if in your opinion, it's sounds non-STD related?

Your Dr is the best way to go with this. I could say yeah it might be yeast but I don't know. It could be so many different things, yeast, fungial, bactrial. Only a Dr will be able to tell you.
