Hi all
On Monday, January 16 I had protected anal sex and unprotected oral sex. I was the insertive partner for both. I always use condoms, except for anal sex. My one-time partner does not.
On Sunday, January 22 (6 days later) my partner informed me he began experiencing symptoms of gonorrhea. I had no symptoms present. I promptly went and got tested that day, and, because I'm paranoid, opted to get treated for gonorrhea/chlamydia along with the standard full panel STD testing.
Fast forward to today, January 26, and all my results came back negative. He informed me that he is in fact positive for gonorrhea and is getting treated.
My question is, obviously it wasn't me who gave it to him (he informed me I was the last person he slept with before getting symptoms, which made me immediately think it was me who was carrying it.) but I see now that with a negative result, that isn't possible. My worry now is that I actually got it from him, and my test came back as a false-negative due to testing too quickly (although it was 6 days after exposure). Even though I was "treated" on the spot, I still feel like I should go get tested again.
Am I being over dramatic? Obviously if i was treated, the infection would be killed off anyway, but I also know you should get tested again to make sure the treatment worked.
Is 6 days window time enough to worry about? or perhaps he's lying to me and hooked up with someone after me that week, and was infected by them?
Thank you
