Red bump on penis shaft

I've recently gotten small bump on the right side of the shaft of my penis. It started out as a small white dot and grew to a bump. It is now red as if it is inflamed and it is slightly painful when applying pressure to it. It used to have a whitehead but now that is gone. The bump is definitely beneath the skin and its fairly hard. At first I figured it was just a swollen Fordyce spot but after looking at different forum posts online i'm not so sure. It does not itch but has a small crater on the top...hardly noticeable. I'm hoping that it is just an ingrown hair or a cyst of some sort. I am sexually active, but it has always been protected and none of the females are suspicious/sketchy in anyway. Any advice would be appreciated!

Did you ever figure out what this was?  Because I feel like I may have the exact same thing.

You need to see your doctor about this.  It could be an std, but it could also be a staph infection and you'd need treatment for that.
