Red itchy marks on base of penis.

Today I woke up with itchy genitals, when I checked myself out there appears to be 5 or 6 red marks on the base of my penis but nowhere else. I had a one night stand last night and also on the 17th november, before that I had not had sex for over 3 months.

I was tested for all stds on the 17th too, currently awaiting results. I was being tested just to be safe, was not displaying any symptoms.

Does this sound like it could be herpes? or is it lice? skin and scalp in general has been very itchy the past 2 weeks and the lady at the GUM clinic thought this might be due to a shower product i was using. any advice?

odds are this is a fungal infection not herpes but be seen today or tomorrow for a proper exam and diagnosis.

no i had it for a few days at the end of november and then again now, its not spots its one consistent patch, about 2cm long, 1 cm wide...still itchy occasionally but simply looks like scaly dry skin...hasnt formed blisters or opened at all in fact.

bit worried that it has come and gone though....

thanks very much grace!

could be a fungal infection, a bacterial infection or herpes though if you've had the rash non-stop since november, it's definitely not herpes causing it. herpes symptoms would come and go with clear periods of no symptoms in between.

Hi yes, im aware the results would have been inaccurate for those two encounters, i was being tested on that date as part of my 6 monthly check up, i have recently decided to do.

I wore protection on both those exposures and both partners assured me they had been checked and did not have stds.

The rash i have had both now and immediately after sex on the 17th of november.. is red and patchy. on neither occasions has it formed into small blisters or burst, which is what i understand happens with a herpes rash, i was wondering if this is always the case with herpes or is it possible to have a rash which does not progress to individual blisters that burst.

Also i applied e45 cream yesterday and the itching immediately desisted and today the rash is less prominent. the redness has faded and the skin looks like it is dry and cracking slightly. I will be going to my GUM clinic on monday if the symptoms are still there for inspection, but do you have any thoughts?

Thanks for your advice!

best to be seen while you have symptoms for a proper evaluation.

getting tested for std's on the day you last had sex was inaccurate for every single std you were tested for.

The symptoms described above went away but reappeared on the 5th of January. Red, patchy rash at base of penis but does not proceed much further up the shaft from the hairline.

The rash is occasionally itchy, but there are no raised bumps and on neither occasions have the red marks formed blisters or resulted in open skin. What is this?
