STD? I don't know. Very Concerned

Hello,
Last year at the begining of January I had protected intercourse with a sex worker (will never make that mistake again). About 3 weeks later I came down with a real bad flu. Then came drenching night sweats that lasted for about a week. Followed by a real bad sore throat that felt like post nasal drip and a white tongue. My tongue had a lot of white paste stuff on it that with a scraper would come off. No spots or red marks just thick white stuff. I also experienced massive fatigue and my muscles felt like they were pulsing.  Went to my doctor and had an HIV test that came up negative, thank god. He prescribed nystantin for the tongue but that did nothing. Eventually the white stuff went away (couple months later) but the sore throat got worse. I went to a Ear Nose & Throat doctor and he said I had acid reflux. Never had that before. About the end of March my groin, under arms and under my chin had discomfort. No swelling or bumps or anything you can feel, but dull pain discomfort that I still have today. I went to another doctor and had him check me for STD's and HIV and all those test came up negative but he gave me two penicillin shots anyways.
I still have a mild sore throat and dull pain/discomfort in my under arms and groin area. Sometimes I get a pulsing pain under my chin. I don't know what else to do. Tomarrow I will call and find out all the STD tests that were taken and post them. Any advise or suggestions as to what maybe ailing me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sal

I don't know what is going on, but its not sounding STD or HIV related.  You'll know for sure when your results are back, but if they are normal, get checked for mono (glandular fever) and get a complete blood count back.  Those aren't STDs, but its a starting point.

Wow,
When I googled Glandular Fever, the symptoms are right on. This is really good news as far as not having a life threatening disease. Thank you. What's interesting is that I just had my annual physical and the blood work did not show anything out of the ordinary. What should I ask my doctor to look for or test?
Also, I see that the treatment is really just rest. How do I do that at 40 years old and lots of responsiblities?

Ask for a test for it - they can test specifically for that.

Well, you just do the best you can, and listen to your body.  If you need a nap, take a nap.  If you are feeling too tired to do something, don't do it, if you can help it.

I know - mono doesn't fit too well into an adult life, does it?
