STD

Hi, I have had a total hysterectomy 2yrs ago. I am worried can I still pick up a S.T.D. if i have unproteced sex with a new partner. I had unproteced sex with a partner saturday night / sunday morning and soon after, I felt cramp like pains.. (period cramps) in my lower stomach and a burning senseation in my vagina. I have no pain when going to the loo.
Please can you tell me have i got something or am i worrying unnecesarly. It would be a while from I would have had  intercourse.
Thank You

Yes, you can still get an std.  The hysterectomy doesn't change that.

That said, you wouldn't get symptoms that fast from an std.  Maybe something else is going on?  Why did you have the hysterectomy?

A_guy - I wonder if you are confusing a tubal ligation with a hysterectomy.  A tubal is done to prevent pregnancy.  A hysterectomy is done only when medically necessary, for conditions that are severely affecting a woman's quality of life, or are life-threatening.

I can't say anything to your symptoms and whether you have anything or not...but...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but does a hysterectomy have anything at all to do with STD's?  I believe it just keeps you from getting pregnant, but is in no way protection from STD's.

This being said, I am in no way saying you have anything...just that the hysterectomy is not going to keep you from getting STD's and you should be more careful in the future.

I'm no expert, so if I am wrong on this someone correct me!
