Scabies?

Over a month ago, I got an uncomfortable rash all over my genital area. It went away after a week or so. I had been having several instances of weird genital skin stuff, so I was tested for a few STDs--HIV, Syphilis, and Herpes I and II, all of which came back negative.

Then, two weeks ago, I got an itchy rash that started on my wrist and then spread to my pelvic area--it was particularly concentrated around the front of my waistline.  This rash went away.  And then, a week later, I developed itchy, pimple-looking bumps on my chest.  These too were clearing up when I woke up with several red, itchy areas on my penis and testicles. It was itchy.  There were also some bumps around my belly button and one on my nipple that itched as well. I went to the doctor, and he said he thought it might be scabies.  He gave me some medicine and a shampoo, which I will use, but I have my doubts about the diagnosis, given the ebb and flow of this rash.

I have also had a small, raised, slightly hard area on the rim of my penis, which no dermatologist (I've seen 3) has been able to identify. The inexplicable hard bump has been there for 4 months, ever since I moved to Central America.

Can anyone make sense of all (or any) of these things?

Thanks.

sometimes it really is just paying far too much attention to your genital area. We have a questionable encounter and suddenly things we typically never thought twice about suddenly take on more meaning.  This can be good and bad but you've been seen multiple times and no one thinks stds as a cause.  Even just manipulating our genitals several times a day can cause issues.

follow up on the bump you are worried about to get better answers. perhaps a dermatologist would be your best bet.

Thanks for responding.  Yes I did boil my sheets and sprayed my bed and pillows down with some stuff.  I am also taking some pills and using a parasite-killing shampoo over all of my body.  We'll see if this takes care of it.

And yes, you are also correct in that my providers have not suspected STDs.  There have just been too many small changes and weird skin problems in the genital region over the past few months for me to feel at-ease with regard to STDs.  There's this strange, hardened bump on the rim of my glans.  Then there has been some periods of what seems like increased sensitivity--abnormal tenderness, unexplained irritation. It also seems as if the small veins before the rim of my penis head have become more visible, and there are small red dots on the head of my penis when erect.  I am circumcised, and I have also noticed that the slight scars from my circumcision at times seem swollen and slightly red.  This may be because of the little veins.

Okay, so I know I might come across as paranoid and detail-obsessed having recorded all of that, but I'm not!  I'm really a pretty laid-back guy.  I don't have any health problems and always use protection, so the STD concern is pretty new to me.  And, more important, I know my body--and my penis--and there have been some changes these past few months.

you've been seen by multiple providers now and none think std's.

did you also do the cleaning of your house you needed to do too with scabies?
