Sore Throat

I met an escort on Nov 19 (12 days ago).  I performed unprotected oral on her.  She performed protected oral on me.  We did not have intercourse.
I have had a sore throat for about a week and have had a cough for about 5 days.  No other symptoms.
I went to see my doctor a week ago and told him what happened.  He advised me to come back in January for HIV & STD Testing which I will.
I called him again yesterday and told him the sore throat is not going away and he gave me amoxicillin for ten days.  He did not check my throat, just over the phone after I told him my symptoms.

Does having a persistent sore throat justify in getting tested sooner than January as recommended by my doctor?

I've been on the antibiotics for about a day and the sore throat is not getting better.

Well your only real risk was herpes and syphilis and a test now would be too early to show anything, so it would be a waste of money.

For peace of mind, if I get tested for STDs now, will the antibiotics alter the results in any way???

Thanks for your help!

Sore throat can be from anything and most of the time not STD related.
