Sore throat after Oral (vaginal) sex, HSV-2?

Dr.

I am wondering if these symptoms are consistent with Oral HSV-2 (or any other STD):

I am a male who performed oral vaginal sex on a woman (she may have been on her period as well).  I first showed symptoms of a sore throat approx 30 days later.  The symptoms started with a scratchy throat, lymph node swelling (neck), and red bumps on the back of my throat and the rear of the roof of my mouth (some of the bumps later developing small white spots).  The white spots look similar to pimples, but more of a white film than a bubble, and they dont seem to be raised.  My Tonsils are red, but look to be free of white buildup (which rules out strep i assume?)

Someone in my office did have strep during the onset of my symptoms, but i have had strep before, and my symptoms don't seem to be the same as when i had it before.

Here is a timeline:

Day 1: Oral Sex
Day 30: Scratchy Throat
Day 31: Swollen Nodes
Day 36: Red Bumps
Day 38: Bumps exhibit white spots, nausea
Day 40: Today

I went to my physician to get tested for EVERYTHING.  He took a look at my throat on day 36 (not very thoroughly), swabbed it, and told me he didnt think it was anything.  I asked for blood tests as well, and should be getting those in a few days.

Will the swab tell me anything?  Are there any specific tests i should be asking for?  I am normally a very safe person when it comes to sex, and i am very active, so i do not want to pass Anything on to Anyone.  Please help...

I see nothing that would be STD related based on symptoms. Overall the risk is very low for a STD's.
