Syphilis, Mono or what?

I'm hoping you can give me some thoughs on my current symptoms. This is my first time here so thank you for your insight in advance.

For the past two months I've been in a gay monogamous relationship, however my partner disclosed to me that he has had unprotected anal sex and has never been tested for STDs. He also has no apparent symptoms. I know this is not indicative of anything. We have been having un protected sex. And about a month ago, after having been sexually involved with him (kissing, oral, and anal) I started getting swollen tonsils and possibly a fever. It was already 100+ degrees outside so I couldnt be sure. Anyway these swollen tonsils have persisted for a month now. And I've had an occasional small fever of 99.7 from under my toungue.

My primary care physician prescribed me Z pack, not sure why, she probably thought it was strep throat. But to no visible outcome as I still have swollen tonsils; however a week and a half or so ago I started noticing patchy sores on my penis. I thought it was from masterbating too much but it seems now they have spread to scrotum (the part directly under the penis) and all around my penis and even red sores on parts of the head.

I've also have a canker sore in my mouth.

I assumed from these things that I like have some sort of syphilis infection; since z pack is usually for strep or other  throat/mouth bacteria.

I went to Kaiser ER because my tonsils were really swollen today. She said she didnt know what I had because the sores on my penis didnt appear ulcerated enough to be syphilis. However, they dont appear to be similar to sores of any other kinds of STDs I've been researching. And I've never had these kinds of sores before.

In addition she said that I may have mono since my tonsils have been swollen for nearly a month.

I hope I've provided enough detail to help you give me some insight as to what might be going on.

Thanks much
Johnny

The ER did not test for mono? That is very strange.
Years ago I came down w/ what I thought was a simple cold. Then turned from bad to worse. My tonsils swelled together basically..could not breathe thru mouth. My sinus' became so inflamed I couldn't breathe thru nose. I was beyond fatigued and my body ached so bad that a 5 minute walk took me over 30 minutes. I finally called for an ambulance. With in no time the ER diagnosed me w/ a SEVERE case mono (trying to emphasize not everyone gets it this bad). I stayed in the hospital for a week.Doc's had to monitor the swelling in my spleen since it was quite swollen.
Also.. another symptom of mono is/could be enlarged and painful lymph nodes especially in the neck.

As for your other problem, I can not give any advice on that. Not familiar w/ it .
Wish you the best in finding out what is causing all this.
Take care

Fungal infections aren't troubling, they are very common.  Jock itch is a fungal infection.

Hi there -

I would think the genital symptoms are from a fungal infection from the antibiotic.  Did the doctor suggest that at all?

Testing for mono and syphilis are both really simple blood tests.  Were either of those done?
