Syphilis Question

About 2 years ago I had a chancre sore come up on my penis shaft near the bottom. At the time I wrote it off as being an infected hair or something. But now Im starting to notice a decline in my mental quickness, some brain fog, and some memory problems, as well as tracers in my vision.  I did have a rash on the soles of my feet and between my fingers which my doctor wrote off as being a fungal infection(athletes foot). Could a doctor simply give me an shot of penicillin without a diagnosis? I am fairly young, with a child, and dont want to ruin my chances at being able to get life insurance at an affordable rate so I really dont want such a diagnosis to show on my medical records. Im really just freaking out and don't know where to go from here. Plus I live in a small town and really dont want the word spread about said diagnosis.

I don't think it matters which county. You can look up online which ones nearest you do std testing. You can call them and ask.

Probably not a bad idea to seek out a type specific herpes igg blood test too but most health departments don't offer those - they tend to only do lesion cultures of active symptoms.

Be sure to follow up on all your symptoms with your provider since none of them are normal for a young adult to be experiencing regardless of any testing you pursue elsewhere.

Do I have to use the health dept in my own county or could I go a couple counties over?

Go to your local health department that tests for stds. they will do the test low cost and it will never show up on your medical record.

Far better to have someone see you going to the clinic for a blood test than it is to die of syphilis my dear.
