Syphilis Rash

In early July I had an encounter with another male.  We engaged in some low risk, but not no risk activity.  He briefly performed oral sex on me and my mouth was on his scrotum.  About 8 weeks later I noticed a non itchy rash on my palms and the sides of my feet but not the soles.  I went to my primary doctor who immediately suspect syphilis and had me tested.  She also treated me with penicilin on the assumption I would test positive.  However the test came back non-reactive.  The test was taken 10 1/2 weeks after the suspected exposure.  Since I cannot find anything else that would cause a rash on my palm, could it be a false negative?  I am still worried.

the rash might be a simple case of eczema. I would make sure the dr you see or saw is a dermatologist. If it's eczema, a topical steroid will do the trick to resolve. But it sounds like you are definitely clear of syphilis, especially having gotten the penicillin shot.

No, that time frame was more then fine to detect a syphilis infection. Also you were treated so even if on some very very very rare chance it was a false negative it would have cured the syphilis.
