Syphilis Reinfection or treatment failure

I was diagnosed with early latent syphilis Feb. 2015 with a titer of 1:32. I was treated with 1 dose of penicillin for 3 weeks. I was pregnant during my treatment and recently during my 28 week retest my titer increased to 1:64. Does this increase mean that I was reinfected or treatment failure? Also should I test for neurosyphilis at this point just to be safe? I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and worried that I may have transmitted the infection to my unborn child. My doctor want to start treatment over again and I am scheduled to have a sonogram with a fetal medicine doctor. I am gravely depressed at this moment.

Yes my partner was treated he had the same treatment as myself. I waited many months to even become intimate with him on top of using condoms just to avoid any type of infection if treatment failed. I will admit dental dams or condoms were not used during oral sex. From my understanding they are doing both test the rpr and I can't remember the name of the other test.

Thankfully syphilis is still treated well with penicillin. Did your partner also get tested and treated? did you avoid contact with them?

Do you know what testing they are doing for you? Are they just doing RPR tests on you?
