Accuracy of Testing

My predicament: Had unprotected sex with a girl I did not know on 6/04. Nervous, I went and got tested on 6/22. I had some redness on the tip on my penis around the urethra, and it felt a little different when I urinated. Not sure I would describe it as "burning" but I've never had an STD so I didn't know what to expect. They did the swab and urine test for clamydia and gonorrhea, both came back negative. Doctor told me that the redness was probably just skin irritation. I may have also had it before and not noticed, don't usually inspect my penis as thoroughly as I have been.

Now I am dating a girl that I care about and we are having unprotected sex. I'm still worried about the fact that I could potentially be putting her at risk for an STI.  Haven't experienced any additional symptoms. Redness is still there. Feels a little off when I urinate, but I admit this might be all in my head. Should I get tested again? How accurate are these tests? I know the urine test was sent to the state lab if that helps.

Thanks.

it's not likely you've ever been tested for hpv. we don't have commercially available tests for males for hpv.

Feels a little uncomfortable, no discharge though. Should I get checked again? I also tested negative for HPV during the previous tests.

did you talk to your new partner about all of this? have you both had full std testing done at the appropriate times that you are having unprotected sex? have you both had your gardasil shots and also discussed the risk of hpv since you can't get tested for it?

You can still have NGU with a negative chlamydia test.    NGU is simply inflamation of your urethra.  You would know if it was inflammed, do you feel it is uncomfortable?  tingling, discharge?   NGU/NSU has the same symptoms as a chlamydial infection.

What about NGU? Should I be worried about that even though I tested negative for clamydia?

The test for Chlamydia and gono were accurate as they were past the 7 day testing period. If you haven't had any symptoms and your test were neg. then you should feel comfortable with the results.

You don't say if you tested for everything or just those two so if you did test for other test then they wouldn't have been conclusive as there is a testing time line
