worried about genital herpes and hepatitis C

on march 3, i stupidly had unprotected vaginal and oral sex with someone who the next day informed me that they had hepatitis C and genital herpes. The sex was pretty rough and i believe i got my period during the act because there was some bleeding that night and the next day only (believe short period due to taking birth control pills). He stated that he was in the past treated for his hepatitis C and his recent testing was negative for it. He aquired genital herpes as a teenager and has had it for over 30 years with no recent outbreaks. He had also been on anti-viral medication in the past for the herpes but was not  on any meds currently. Almost immediately there was vaginal redness and itching. Thinking of a yeast infection used monistat for one week which helped. Then other symptoms slowly started to occur such as profuse grey vaginal discharge, went to see OBGYN and was treated for a suspected bacterial infection with metronidazole for one week, with some improvement. one week post exposure was tested for UTI and hepatitis and herpes 1/2. negative for UTI/culture, neg for hepatitis, positive for herpes 1 igG test  5.12 and negative for herpes 2 igG  < 0.91. tested one week later again and was 5.07 fo herpes 1 and 0.91 for herpes 2 (equivocal). also neg for chlamydia and gonorrhea at this time. negative for bacteria and yeast. now 5 weeks  later, there is still some persistent grey vaginal discharge, and mostly some mild anal itching and dull pain in anal area and buttocks which just recently developed.  Between weeks 2-7, had on and off groin pain which is now resolved, increased need to urinate which is improved and a feeling of vaginal pressure which is also resolved. No blisters or sores have developed as of yet. i am mostly worried about herpes, not the hepatitis since he tested negative.  does this sound like genital herpes ? or any other thoughts? when is the best time to get re-tested? at last weeks visit to obgyn, mid wife stated everything looked okay vaginally and anally. being tested again for more bacteria and yeast, UTI. waiting o those results still. thank you in advance for any info you can provide me.

the fluconazole seems to have taken care of the yeast infection I was diagnosed with. I no longer have that burning sensation that I previously described last time. Got back some new results that I would like to share with you: one week post unprotected exposure to someone positive for herpes 2:  iGG herpes 1  5.12   iGG herpes 2  <0.91
2 weeks post exposure  iGG herpes 1  5.07   iGG herpes 2   0.91
7 weeks post exposure iGG herpes 1  6.03   iGG herpes 2  0.91
i will get tested again at 4 months post exposure like you suggested. Do you think my results as of now indicate i may be in the clear for genital herpes or is it still too early too tell? If my 4 month result is the same, can I call it negative? If it is in the equivocal range but higher than the previous result, should I wait a few more months and re-test? Currently, I have developed a cold sore on my lip (9 weeks post exposure to herpes 2, not sure if he was positve for herpes 1 as well), but I have had cold sores since being a kid. Would this explain why my last result for herpes 1 was higher than the previous two? I have not developed any genital lesions as of yet. Thankyou for taking the time to read my post, any info will be appreciated.

the fluconazole seems to have taken care of the yeast infection I was diagnosed with. i feel much better and I do not have the burning sensation that i described last time anymore. got back some new results that i wanted to share with you.
one week post unprotected exposure to someone positive for genital herpes
igG herpes 1 ---  5.12      IgG  herpes 2  <0.91 (i have had cold sores since i was a kid so i knew that the herpes 1 would be positive)
2 weeks post exposure
igG herpes 1--- 5.07  IgG  herpes 2  0.91
7 weeks post exposure
IgG herpes 1--- 6.03   IgG herpes 2   0.91
i will wait and get tested again 4 months post exposure ( 7 weeks from now). Do my results indicate i may be in the clear for herpes 2 or is it still too early to tell? If my 4 month post result is the same, can i call it negative? If it is higher, but still in the equivocal range should i wait a few more months and retest? and why would my herpes 1 result go up higher if i have not had a cold sore for a very long time? thanks again for your help!

Went to see doctor today. Urine culture was negative. was tested for trich and was negative. Negative for bacteria. Positve for yeast. Doctor said vaginal discharge was consistent with yeast. No lesions consistent with herpes seen. Gave me a prescription for 1 tablet of fluconazole 150 mg. Hopefully, this single dose will take care of my symptoms. I did also go and get tested for herpes 2 again yesterday which will only be 7 weeks post exposure, but since I am so anxious I want to see if there is any changes in my numbers. I know that most likely if it is not an obvious positive I will have to test again in a few months to know for sure. my result one week post exposure was >0.91 and then 2 weeks post exposure was 0.91. I will hopefully have those results in the next few days. thank you for your help and advice.

that can be a herpes symptom but it also can be other things. if your provider suspects that area looks like herpes, a lesion culture and typing would be in order.

stop back after your appointment and let us know how it went :)

thank you very much for your reply. I am actually going to the OBGYN tomorrow. Hopefully, I will find out some more results of last week's testing. I just did the testing for bacteria and yeast last week along with a urinalysis and culture, I am pretty sure they have already tested for trich one week postexposure, but I will find out for sure. Wouldn't the metronidazole have taken care of it which I took for one week? The only symptom I seem to have now is this constant slight burning sensation inside in one spot. Is that consistent with herpes? Thank you so much. If I could I would like to update you on my results when i get them.

you need to be seen again and retested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally. they also should test you for trich too just to err on the side of caution.

you have to wait at least 3 months post encounter to test for hepatitis and herpes.
