Yeast infection (male) ?

After spending way too long in my wet bathing suit and tighty-whiteys underneath I woke up the next morning with a rash on my scrotum.  It was burning and painful and the area was red and a little raw looking.  It also "sweats" when I don't put anything on it.  There are no individual blisters it is really just spread out.  Over the last day it has also spread somewhat to my penis.  My penis isn't raw like my scrotum but the head gets dry looking and wrinkly.  This has happened once before under similar settings (hottub) and went away after a week.  I get cold sores about 2-3 times a year and they look nothing like this.  They are blisters and are isolated to one spot.  I have been taking acidopholus and drinking plenty of water.  I'm also keeping neosporin on it.  I don't have insurance so I'm hoping I can get some info here before biting the bullet and seeing a Dr.

The pictures I've seen for fungal infections look much more like my case than genital herpes.

Any help?

Thanks ahead...

neosporin isn't useful for yeast/fungal infections.  It also can be very irritating to the sensitive genital skin. I wouldn't use it on the genital area unless specifically told to do so by a provider.

Acidophilus supplements don't help skin fungal infections.  they help put the 'good' bacteria in the bowels only.

This sounds like a yeast infection ( the red spots, the "seeping" etc ).  You need to treat this.  You can do so with otc creams.  Be sure to use it as directed and don't stop using it as soon as it looks better. use it for a full 2 weeks minimum.  Also when you get home from swimming - take a shower and get out of the wet clothes. Anytime you can go bottomless is good too - cool, dry air discourages yeast overgrowth.

I've read that some males have had success with monistant (which is used for female yeast infections).

You can also put baby powder down there to try and keep it dry.

Could be fungal.

Since you don't have insurance, why not call your local health department and see about an std clinic near you?
