chlamydia

I got chlamydia roughly 3 months ago. Went to the doctor because of odd symptoms maybe like a month and a half after i contracted the disease and tested positive for chlamydia, negative for everything else. They gave me 4 pills to take all at once (azithromicin) i believe and 1 pill for gonorreha just in case. Symptoms did not go away. Got retested a month after, chlamydia tested positive again. They prescribed me Levofloxacin for 7 days, 1 pill a day, of which i took the last pill monday. Today we are wednesday. Now one of the symptoms i was having was a slight sticky clear discharge at the tip of my penis. This symptom was not present during the whole 7 days i took the levofloxacin. But now 2 days after i took that last pill, that symptom is present again. Do you suppose this automatically means somehow the pills did not work also? I was told when i retested positive that i was only amongst 3% of the people that dont get cured first try. Now i'm freaked out because of this symptom again, and wondering would i really not be cured after taking 2 different antibiotics. I have to wait like another 3 weeks to get tested again, and then probably like another 1 to 2 weeks for the results which by that time i'll have had chlamydia in me for like 4 months now (assuming i test positive a 3rd time). So anyways, i'm just really worried. I ended up smoking my fair share of marijuana during the 7 days of taking levofloxacin. I looked on the internet to see if it would interfere and it didnt really say anything so i took the chance, because i'm addicted to marijuanna and its hard to stop.

Anyways, i just dont understand how i didnt get cured the first time, considering the chances, and now this 2nd time, i'm not feeling confident... what is going on?

Hi ohjay,

You have seen a doctor for your chlamydia infection. Although the first treatment of your infection occured, but I'm sure your doctor knows what he is doing. Sometimes treatment failure does happen especially when a person developed the drugs-resistance to the medicines.
So, stay calm and be patient. Have trust in your doctor. Chlamydia is a curable disease.
One personal advice though, smoking marijuana brings no benefit at all to your health. Although there have never been studies whether marijuana will affect the antibiotics efficiency but sooner or later your health will be effected by marijuana. Kick the habit.

Thanks.
