herpes?

for about 4 months now, i have been getting this weird dull, shooting pain just under the head of my penis. I've been tested at planned parenthood and have been to my family doctor a few times and neither know what it is. I get it everyday but the pain doesnt last long. I've been putting some creams on the area but they dont seem to make it any better or worse. If you look very closely there is this little red dot (not a bump i dont think) right where the pain is happening. Its been there for a little while.probably the whole time the pain has been happening. I have not ahd any sores or outbreaks or anything like that, just this shooting pain. Could this be herpes?

Also, i have not been tested for herpes b/c my dr. said that the blood test will only show if i had ever been infected with herpes in my life (including coldsores) which he said almost everybody has been affected with at least once in their life making the test inaccurate.

i have another appointment in 2 weeks with a urologist but i am very anxious about this problem

There are several people on medhelp that have chronic penis pain. Most of the time they get tested repeatedly for herpes. It usually comes back negative. Don't get too worried about that.

Maybe gonorrhea or chlamydia, but that would be a real stretch.  Have you tested for them?

Hi there -

This isn't a typical symptom of herpes.  Has anyone done a prostate exam?

Your doc is wrong about the herpes test.  Yes, many people will test positive for type 1, but they have type specific tests which will tell you if you have either type 1, type 2 or both.  The best test to ask for is an IgG herpeselect.

If you have antibodies for type 1 or 2, it doesn't mean you've just been exposed - it means you have it, so your doc is incorrect about that as well.
