pls can someone answer if u have any information
Hi, they dont test for herpes with a urine test only blood or swab of an active sore and they dont test using a pcr in the blood only a swab so im not sure why they are ording these types of tests. Makes not sence.
Hi, your tests make no scence. a pcr is used for a swab only not blood or urine and herpes is tested with blood or swab not urine.
there is a pcr blood test . it can be done on
any fluid . blood and urine amd spinal fluid . its usually dont when u dont have symptoms . have a look here
and on this link also it says that
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Test
PCR tests find the genetic material (DNA) of the HSV virus. This test can distinguish between HSV-1 and HSV-2. A PCR test can be done on cells or fluid from a lesion or on blood or on other body fluids.
Yes they can use a pcr with blood or urine but its not recommended as finding the virus using those methods is next to impossble. The virus is not in the blood but antibodies are nor is the virus in urine.
A pcr test is performed on an area of the skin when there is a sore or lesion there. The sore is swabbed.
Your tests were a total waste of money and time.
Well lets put it this way. Im not sure what they found but have a blood test to confirm hsv2 before jumping to any conclusions.
the reason they went for pcr is that I have the ebv virus . and I was told it affects the igg test giving false positive . and someone on mdhelp told me ebv shouldn't affect the igg test . so I will go bak and get it done. just one more question pls . if in fact the one spot I got 4 years ago was hsv2 . does this mean I can get more severe symptoms at any time in the future ? I heard the first outbreak is the worst or is that not always the case ? will I wake up one morning with severe lesions !!! I'm not sure what I will do with my life now if I do have hsv2 . it surely means my husband has cheated . we have been married for 10 years for god sakes and I got my first spot 4 years ago . he is the first man in my life and there is no way he got it 10 yeas ago and gave it to me and I got the spot 6 years after the marriage . Im freaking out here .
Yes the first outbreak would be the worst and yes that having ebv would not affect the igg test and since ebv is in the herpes family i would bet they confused EBV with HSV2 on the test results.
I have no idea to tell u truth . the dr said we shoudn't do the igg test since u had ebv because the kits used in Igg can sometimes mix up the antibodies from one type of herpes with the other . so having ebv can affect the test . but dna by pcr shouldn't . now both my blood samples and urine were done by pcr . blood negative for both hsv1 and hsv2 . urine negative for hsv1 but positive for hsv2 !!!! and I was left wondering with what that means , the dr said I shouldn't worry about it maybe the urine sample was contaminated and If I want we can repeat it !!! thanks for ur help dave . at least I know I wont wake up one morning with painful sores that lasts for weeks . the spot 4 years ago was tiny and went away by itself in 5 days and if that's the worst of it then I can cope with the physical drama which leaves the emotional side of things to deal with .
EB is a type so if you have the igg type specific test there wont be any confusion
thanks a lot for ur help truly appreciate it .
