Hi,
Two weeks ago I had unprotected sex, on Tuesday. Two days following, Thursday, I started to show symptoms, yellowish discharge and burning sensation when urinating. I unfortunately don't have insurance and had to rely on free clinics to diagnose and treat me. I visited the clinic on the following Monday. They did a urinalysis to test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and was told I had to wait 1 week for the results. The results came back and I tested positive for Gonorrhea. They treated me on-site. that following Tuesday, with a 300ml shot in the upper thigh with Ceftriaxone.
The following night, Wednesday, I noticed that the opening to my urethra was completely shut, kind of looked like it had scabbed over or was swollen shut, and I was unable to urinate. I immediately went to the ER and they inserted a Foley Catheter to remove the urine from my bladder and ensure I wouldn't get a bladder infection. This was left in for a week before removing and they also put me on a 500mg dose of Ciprofloxacn, twice a day for two weeks(I have 3 days left).
While I have read that the Ceftriaxone shot typically kills the Gonorrhea infection, I've still been noticing a slight burn when urinating, but the other symptoms have subsided. Could this be due to scar tissue? I've also been having an annoying pain from about the middle of my shaft towards the tip of my penis when I get an erection. I've only masturbated once since being treated but have held off because of the uncomfortable feeling when erect and the fear that it may cause my urethra to close again.
So my question. Is it possible that having the Foley Catheter put in so close to the beginning of my treatment that it could have kept the Gonorrhea from being treated properly? Or could this possibly a Urethral Stricture? Or is there possibly a tear in my urethra from the Gonorrhea and I just need to allow it to heal over time?
Thank you for the help!
