How likely is it to contract Syphilis or other STI from brief, one time oral?

I am a male who received oral from a unknown female. This occurrence, two days ago, lasted only about 1 minute. I  Did not finish as guilt overtook me. Does this occurrence warrant testing? If so, for what, and when?

Thanks in advance!

S, in your expert opinion, is there any use in testing for HIV for this occurrence?

No, there is no risk for HIV from oral sex.
If I had contracted syphilis, when would the chancre show up?

In the past week I have noticed a small place on my inner thigh about an inch down from my scrotum. It’s about three or four millimeters in diameter.

Would a syphilis chancre show up here?

Also, at the time of occurrence, I was taking a 5 day z-pack. Would this have kept me from getting something?

Should I get tested?
A syphilis sore shows up at the point of infection, so it wouldn't appear there. It probably would appear on the shaft of your penis.

The z-pack may have prevented an infection. If you're still concerned, why not make a doctor's appt to get the spot on your thigh checked and a syphilis test? It's a simple blood test. You can then move beyond this.
Thank you, Auntiejesse. I just went by the lad and tested. I should have my results back in a day or so.

I know that “thank you” doesn’t mean much to some but I truly appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

I will let you know when I get my results.

Best Regards,

Good, I look forward to hearing your results. :)

Most experts feel that one oral sex encounter doesn't warrant testing, even if it was to completion, because it's less risky than vaginal or anal sex.

In most developed countries, syphilis is uncommon, and it's not something I would worry about. It's possible, but unlikely.

It's also possible to get gonorrhea, chlamydia (far less likely), and something called NGU (any infection in the urethra not caused by gonorrhea). NGU can be caused by normal mouth bacteria, strep (think strep throat), viruses that cause upper respiratory viruses.

Again though, these aren't nearly as likely as getting something from vaginal or anal sex, and given that it only lasted a minute, I wouldn't worry about it. If you must, you can test for everything but syphilis in about 5 days. You can test for syphilis at 6 weeks, but you'd have a sore appear between 10-90 days, with the average being 3 weeks.

Try not to worry, and remember that guilt doesn't equal risk.
