Sore Tongue

Last August I had to go to the Dr. to get my throat checked. It hurt so bad and it felt like it was swollen to the max. I was right about it being swollen. The doctor's weren't sure what I had back there.  They just called it a peritonsolar abscess.  I was treated with antibiotics.  I just read the symptoms can come back in the future.  I have NOT had my tonsils taken out.  Anyway since that day I have had to NON stop clear the phlegm out of my throat. I keep a cup next to my bed at night to spit in it's that bad.  I have had oral sex with guys who are pretty trustworthy that they don't have any STDs but I am worrying now if it is possible that I could have something, or if I need my tonsils removed or what! I just got a cold a week and a half ago and just got over it, but my sore throat seems to be coming and going. I am so confused with what to do.

no std I know causes a sore tongue.

as for your last statement about the guys you give oral sex with are trustworthy. that statement makes no sense, you do not know anyones status unless you truly are in a  monogomous relationship  with them.

oral sex with a condom causes almost a zero risk

oral sex without a condom is also a small risk but you are subjected to these stds, Herpes, Syphillis and gono. clymydia is rare in the mouth but it also has happened.

Thanks everyone, I am a little more at ease now.  I looked at my tonsils and they have holes in them, which is freaky.  Do you think it's just excess bacteria that needed to be killed? And they're just overloaded right now?  I read that the holes are good because they capture bacteria and allow the proper cells to kill it.  I gargled peroxide and it's seemed to help a little, as that area isn't that bad today.

I had those same symptoms.  Pitted tonsils.  Food collects in there and gets infected.  Had mine removed and no longer an issue.

if you've had these issues since last august, you need to return to the ENT doc for a proper evaluation. this is not a std issue.

I have to agree with healthadvisory on the trust thing.  Every time I got an std, I thought the person was trust worthy.
