Trich after years

Had unprotected sex almost 3 years ago. Tested for Almost everything, and all was negative. Only thing I’m not sure is trich. Have had no symptoms apart from mild yeast infection which goes away with canesten. I read about it for the first time 3 days ago, and now have a strange tickling sensation inside the penis ever since. Question: could I still have it after being probably asymptomatic for 3 years and then it suddenly shows symptoms (but no burning, discharge, smell)? How likely is this? Doesnt it normally go away by it-self in males? Could my partner develop symptoms after a similar length?

No, you wouldn't have trich for this long with no symptoms, most likely as a male. Your partner probably wouldn't either.

Since you developed symptoms so soon after reading about it, I'd think maybe it's a hyper-awareness of your penis from anxiety.

Thanks for your reassuring comment. I think I identified the itching as coming from a sensitive foreskin, although I can’t be sure. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if things are on the outside or inside. It’s amazing how constant worry seems to amplify symptoms. Just out of interest, how long does trich normally last with mild symptoms only in women and men? Are we talking many years in general?
There is no set answer for this. I've seen different things that say several months, and the ambiguous "years".

In a clinic setting, the longest I've ever seen personally for a man was several months, and that was questionable. There is some truth that most men clear it on their own - https://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Trich-and-Its-Complications/show/1593388

In any case, trich doesn't cause complications for men, and when they are treated, it's usually to prevent the spread to women, who do experience complications.

If your partner doesn't have symptoms, I wouldn't worry about this at all. Like not even a passing thought. :)
I agree with what auntiejessie is saying, also please note, trich can cause severe prostatits in men when it is kept untreated for that long , which will be presented with bloody ejaculate, pain during ejaculation and altogether unpleasantness and itching in the genital area. But i can understand your position at the moment, as i retested several times for HIV my self not believing the technician that did the negative tests, talk about the perks of knowledge :)) , so go ant test, and get your piece of mind.
Yes, what klamidia said. :)
